The site is naturally divided by ancient hedgerows into two distinct areas, the first is “The Meadow” which is adjacent to the main shower/toilet facilities with 6 camping pitches including 2 designated pitches for camper vans.
A second area “The Quarry” is more secluded with just 4 pitches and is bordered by a stream, a disused steam railway embankment and the remnants of ancient quarry workings .
Whether a family or couple seeking to reconnect with nature, as proud members of the Greener Camping Club Birchwood Camping offers a unique camping experience including the option of a real camp fire and small pizza oven.
A south facing 5 acre meadow
Spread out across this beautiful 5 acre field we have 6 camping pitches including 2 dedicated campervan pitches and a bell tent.
This gently sloping south facing meadow where the pitches are mown into long grass is ideal for families. Also sited on this meadow is our pre-erected 5 metre bell tent “Barn Owl”, ideal for those new to camping or seeking to book something for a few days at short notice.
At the top of the field is a timber building housing hot showers, flushing toilets and a covered food preparation and washing up area. Mains water taps are available around the field and fire pits are provided on each pitch including complimentary firewood for stays of 3 nights or longer (additional wood is available @ £5 per bag).
Vehicles are not allowed on the pitches however there is a separate parking area again at the top of the field and wheel barrows and trolleys are available to move your camping equipment if needed.
a secluded 1.5 acre field surrounded by woodland
At the bottom of the Meadow a gate leads into a smaller area of just 1.5 acres. Here there are just 4 pitches again mown into this wild flower area.
Ideal for those seeking an even more secluded camping experience the field is surrounded by mature woodland, has a small stream in one corner, is adjacent to an old steam railway embankment and the remnants of the old quarry face is still partially visible.
This area is serviced by the shower shack, compost loo and washing up point. Mains water is available in this field and fire pits are provided on each pitch including complimentary firewood for stays of 3 nights or longer (additional wood is available @ £5 per bag).
Trolleys and barrows are again available and also a quad and small trailer if needed.
There are a range of seating options around the site carefully positioned to take advantage of the natural topography. It may be a secluded corner or a higher point on the site which takes advantage of far reaching views and stunning sunsets.
